A New Kara, a Young Warrior
Josh preached in a village in Uganda yesterday. While they were there, a man came to Sara Barton asking her for help in naming his new baby. After some discussion, he decided to name it after my daughter, Kara. Now there is another Kara, another treasured Princess, and part of us will forever be linked to the dark continent.

I hope he loves his Kara as much as I love mine. My son, Duncan, just got back from his annual training with the USMC. He got to fly in Chinook helicopters, become qualified to drive HumVees, serve as a forward mortar observer, etc. He was also the guy they chose to carry the 50 caliber machinegun. [Correction: Not being a military guy, I got the gun wrong! Dunk tells me it is a SAW, Squad Automatic Weapon.] A few photos made it back to us. We are proud of our son, of course, and of all those who stand in harm’s way on our behalf.

Once again, I think my God for His gifts to me, first among which are Kara, Duncan, and their mother.

You are a blessed man, Patrick Mead! I’m proud of them and I know you are. I would love to be able to do the work that Kara is doing! Duncan… not so much – he seems to enjoy it, we’ll just let him do that work.

What treasured memories Kara and Josh will have! Had forgotten Sarah and John Barton were now with you folks. Tell them hello for Lon and me. Love his parents!
Love your blogs about family and their activities. I thoroughly appreciate Duncan and his sacrifices for me, my family, and this country. Don’t know him personally, but love him as my own.

Perhaps a seperate bragging blog needs to be created..? It’s good to hear how proud you are and that you are still giving your children praise even to this day.

Thanks for keeping us informed on Duncan’s activities. It brings back memories when my son was stationed at Tallil AFB a few years ago.
