Photos of the Day
As promised, here are some photos of the Great Communion at Rochester, Michigan. Thanks to Jenny Hoggatt for taking a ton of great ones. I wish I could publish them all, but Theobloggers might not like that!

The hosts: Patrick Mead (Rochester Church of Christ), Bob Cornwall (Central Woodward Christian Church – Disciples), Steve Martin (Meadowbrook Christian Church)

The Rochester Church praise team was awesome –

The Singing Preachers were five pastors from four Disciples churches in Detroit. They rocked the house. Think “Blind Boys of Alabama” good!

I wore a suit in honor of the day. Don’t get used to that…

JC Thomas from Rochester said the closing prayer and admonition.

An elder from each tradition stood behind the table. One read the scripture, one prayed for the bread, and one for the cup. My sweet wife made a beautiful drape for the table — off white and royal purple.

We finished with an hour or more of fellowship, hosted by the elders from all three traditions.

It was a glorious day! Wish you could have been there!

Patrick, I had the opportunity to be sitting at lunch this past Sunday after having our on version of Communion Sunday. I past along you general thought to three Methodist pastors who were sharing lunch with me. I got an “Amen Brother”!!

Great stuff. Patrick. I had to laugh at one of the pictures, though. You can always tell where the Praise Team was sitting because of the water bottles.

It’s encouraging to be heading in the right direction after all these years of running from each other.
However, I saw Steve Martin on Letterman the other night and the guy in your picture doesn’t look anything like Steve Martin. You might want to check into that!

I wondered about that, too. I didn’t see a banjo.
I’m sure he’s never heard those lines before…

What? You expect originality from us? That might be asking a bit much . . .
